Expose our children to new experiences, different cultures and people, and an appreciation for what really is important in life. We hope to spend meaningful time together as a family before the kids are off to college. We would like our children to see the world in a different way and then come back home with a better appreciation of the opportunities and resources they have available in our great country.
We are a team of four sailors. Captain Luis, who recently retired after 21 eventful years with the police department to start his new life as a sailor. Our 16 year old son, Lui, who is an 11th grade homeschooler. Lui has been ready for a change of pace after enduring multiple back surgeries and spending long periods of time in hospitals. He was looking forward to do something exiting and out of the ordinary with the family and away from doctors (nothing personal though) :) Next is the youngest of the family, our daughther Angelica. She is a 13 year old starting the 8th grade as a homeschooler and with mixed fealings about the adventure. Sometimes she thinks it was a great idea, and other times she thinks is was a terrible idea; but everything for a teenager is the end of the world. She stays connected with her friends using her cellphone and computer, and that keeps her happy. Lastly is mom, Consuelo. I was more than ready to give my life a spin and change gears into something exiting and fun. I am not going to say that it was an easy decision to make. Leaving our family behind was the hardest part, but we needeed to do something different in our lives as a family besides hospital stays and work. We needed to spend quality time together and have some fun before the kids headed out to college. The only thing I can hope for and pray to God for is that everything works out the way that we had planned it would. If you would like to follow our journey, you are more than welcome to do so...
